Have You Been to Scheels Yet?

September 15, 2020

Fall weather usually brings rain along with it. Why not use a rainy Saturday as an excuse to check out Scheel’s new location at the Eden Prairie Center?

While Scheels has been in the Eden Prairie Center since 2006, its new location, 250,000 square feet of retail space that Sears used to occupy, is something to see. Scheels opened the new space in July – and with 85 different shops, it’s a mall within a mall.

What’s new?

Eighty-five specialty shops. Including shops for hockey, baseball, fishing, and archery.

A 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium.

A 65-foot Ferris Wheel provides a birds-eye view of the whole store.

You could spend hours browsing specialty shops for fishing, camping, biking, hockey, and more. Or your favorite spectator sports like the Minnesota Twins, Gophers, and Vikings.

Try before you buy on the hockey store’s synthetic rink – and you’ll know how your gear will feel on game day.

And when you’re ready to take a break from shopping, Scheels offers a variety of activities – sure to please each member of your entourage. Their 65-gallon aquarium featuring more than 700 saltwater fish will mesmerize the youngest of family members. Scuba Divers clean the tank and feed the fish weekly – a bonus if you’re in the store at the right time.

Older kids and adults will enjoy Rollerball, a scaled-down bowling game you can enjoy alone or with friends. A Shooting Gallery for hunters, shooters, or anyone who wants to try it out. Scheels’ shooting gallery’s packed with close range and distance range targets.

Who doesn’t love an old-fashioned Arcade? Scheels’ arcade features classic fun with games like Pacman and modern-day thrills with their assortment of race simulators. Finally, check out the Archery Lanes. Part of the Archery shop, Scheels’ Experts help you find the right bow, arrows, and accessories. Then, you can try them out in the store before you buy – or just for fun.

And when you’re hungry, visit Ginna’s Café – an in-store coffee shop and restaurant. Ginna’s features specialty coffees, roast brewed coffee and Scheels’ famous fudge. Face it, athletes need their carbs – and there’s no better place than Fuzzywig’s Candy Factory for a sweet treat. Fuzzywig’s features the classics and some nostalgic offerings for kids and candy lovers from two to ninety-two.

The new Eden Prairie Scheels is an attraction unto itself – even if you’re not in the market for sporting goods, it’s worth visiting on a rainy fall Saturday. And with Big 10 Football on hold until the fall of 2021, you might have some extra time on your hands. Go and see the new Scheels at the Eden Prairie Mall.
